About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Potentially, subject to a meet and greet on Site. Goose can on occasion, guard toys from other dogs. We have only witnessed this within our enclosed field environment. We have no knowledge of how Goose is within a home due to him being a stray.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - 16+
- Can I live with young children? No - 16+
- Do I have any medical issues? No
- Can I live with cats? No - Goose is not bothered by the farm cats at the Sanctuary but due to him being half lurcher, we would recommend a cat-free home.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Goose is a very good boy on the lead.
Goose is a super handsome and loveable, Lurcher X Labrador, he has an affectionate nature and greets everyone he meets with kisses!
Sadly, Goose arrived too us as an unclaimed stray from the Goytre area. He was severely underweight and his overall condition gave us the impression that he had been living outdoors for quite some time. As you can imagine, this has meant that he has missed out on the comforts of a loving family and home environment as well as the opportunities to explore the big open world. Naturally, his toilet training needs some work.
Goose knows how to get our attention. He often shows his half kangaroo side & will spring off the ground on all four legs in order to say hello and will nudge your hands for cuddles if you’re not paying attention too him. This bouncy boy has a lot of potential, he is already learning to sit and we are teaching him that keeping all four legs on the ground is not necessarily a bad thing!
He often carries around a small fluffy toy in his mouth to then take away and shred! If you don’t mind de-stuffed toys scattered around the house, Goose may be the perfect dog for you. Cuddly, teddy bear style toys are his favourite but if you have a tasty treat or two, food outweighs all and he will come running! He’s a proper foodie!
Goose has made a few doggy friends whilst at the Sanctuary. He will happily walk alongside them on lead walks & is very gentle & respectful when interacting. Although. he can occasionally be a little wary of other dogs when they are near him whilst he has a cuddly toy. Due to this, we would recommend a home with older children only (16+) and if the family applying already have a dog, discussions with our Dog Trainer & Behaviourist Gary Mathlin will take place.
Goose would be a great match for an active home where understanding & patience are key. Not knowing any information regarding his background must be taken into consideration & the family (or) individual will need to work closely with us at the Sanctuary to ensure Goose is settled in properly to his new home.
If you think you have a Goose shaped hole in your heart, please email into us to request a dog adoption form.
